Wireless headphones xiaomi sport bluetooth black. Review of Xiaomi Mi Sport Bluetooth Headset wireless headphones. Sound and technology

21.12.2019 Memory cards

Today we are reviewing some pretty interesting and stylish bluetooth headphones Xiaomi Mi Sports. This headset was released Chinese brand Xiaomi at the end of 2016. And at first, due to increased demand, they were sold only on pre-orders. The price at the start of sales ranged from 28 to 35 US dollars, and this model was mainly sold on websites Chinese online stores electronics.

Appearance

Xiaomi Mi Sports headphones are supplied in a white box made of thin cardboard with a transparent window through which you can see the headphones themselves. Since the parcel was coming to me directly from China, it was a little wrinkled. It is worth noting here that if the box was made in the style of other Xiaomi accessories, then the mail would hardly be able to damage it. On the back of the box there is information about the model, country of manufacture, and so on. There is also a small hologram, which should probably tell us about the authenticity of the product.

The scope of delivery is not too large:

  • Instructions in Chinese
  • Charging cable (10 cm)
  • Xiaomi Mi Sports Headphones
  • Set of ear pads

1 of 4

What pleased me about the set, and then slightly upset me, was the number of ear pads. There are a total of 4 pairs in a separate small package. The disappointing thing is that the sizes of the ear pads are XS, S, M, L, and this is probably enough for the Chinese market, but for me even L is a little small.

Xiaomi Mi Sports headphones are a bluetooth stereo headset with a vacuum earbud mount. They are connected to each other by a dense rubber-braided cable. The cable length is 50 cm and it is firmly fixed in the headphones, so there is no possibility of replacing it, or losing it. There is a tie in the middle of the cable designed to reduce the length of the cable for ease of use. I tried wearing it with and without a tie, and didn’t feel any particular discomfort.

1 of 2

Xiaomi Mi Sports headphones arrived in black. The headphones themselves are made of matte black plastic. The tactile sensations are very pleasant to the touch, and the plastic coating vaguely resembles a rubberized surface. A matte gray aluminum plate is inserted into the center of both headphones. There is also an aluminum ring at the junction of the wire and the edge of the arms. On the right earphone there is a charging connector covered with a protective cap. On the other side there are 2 buttons “+” and “-”, and in the middle of the metal insert there is an inconspicuous light indicator of operation. By the way, the indicator is so indistinguishable that I only became aware of its presence when I connected the headphones to the charger, when it lit up red. Not far from the right earphone, there is a microphone and a power button on the wire.

Externally, the shape of the headphones themselves resembles the Xiaomi Mi Band accessory. It was made in the same style as the headphones. And these two accessories together would complement each other.

Controls

The Xiaomi Mi Sports headphones are turned on by pressing the button located near the microphone for 1 second. At the same time, the girl’s pleasant voice in Chinese makes it clear that the headset is on. Pressing this button for 3 seconds will turn off. When the Xiaomi Mi Sports headphones are turned on, a single press of the button on the remote control performs the play/pause function for music player. If you quickly press the button twice, the phone will start dialing the last dialed subscriber. As with many other headsets when incoming call A short press on the button means accepting the call, and a long press means rejecting it.

The “+” and “-” buttons perform 2 functions. So when single press The volume increases and decreases, and if it lasts for a long time, it switches tracks on the player. It is worth noting that the tactile “+” and “-” on the Xiaomi Mi Sports headphones can be felt rather poorly, so we just remember that the top track is forward and louder, and the bottom track is the opposite.

Inclusion

After switching on, Xiaomi Mi Sports headphones are detected on the smartphone in the form of a string of Chinese characters. Pairing occurs quickly, and the headphones again pronounce a long phrase in Chinese. I would associate it with “connected - everything is fine.” To be honest, the first minutes of using and understanding Chinese speech were a little uncomfortable. But then it gave the headphones a zest, and the phrases gradually began to be remembered.

Since Xiaomi Mi Sports headphones support simultaneous operation with several devices, to connect a second smartphone you need to carry out the following sequence of actions:

  • Unplug headphones and turn off bluetooth module on a smartphone 1.
  • Enable the bluetooth module on smartphone 2 and turn on the headphones
  • Pair devices
  • Then turn on the bluetooth module on your smartphone 1

However, there is one interesting feature - if you use it in monopoly mode on smartphone 1, then the second smartphone can only be connected using the same principle as the initial pairing. It seems that smartphone 1 becomes a priority for headphones, and should be turned off when connecting other devices.

Of the shortcomings of working with two smartphones, I noticed only one. When making a call to any of the smartphones on the second player, the player is not paused, but simply muted.

Feelings of use

I decided to break down the experience of using the Xiaomi Mi Sports headphones and give them ratings.

The first thing I would note is the wearable qualities of the device. The headphones are lightweight and almost invisible, just like sports accessories should be. But that was until I tried to put on sunglasses. Due to the fact that the headband of the headphones is thick and hard, you have to constantly adjust the glasses and temples. And here either the glasses lie above the ear or the earpiece does not fit behind the ear. I'll give it a 3 for wearability with other accessories.

The second point I would note is how the ear pad lies in the auricle. If you are lucky and you immediately select the ear pad size for yourself, then you will feel the pleasure of the sound. I can hardly fit the L size ear pads. So I won’t advise people with big ears, the rest - go ahead. Rating 4.

The third thing I would like to note is the sound. It's very good for the money. And in those cases when the ear pad fit well in my ear, I really enjoyed the bass. If the ear pads do not fit tightly to your ear, then you simply will not hear low-frequency tones of sound as well. And given that the volume of the Xiaomi Mi Sports headphones is very high, there will be no problems with audibility.

I myself am an ardent fan of cycling and with these headphones I had almost no problems with the wind in my ears at speed. This is most likely due to the rather massive and streamlined design. For volume, sound and sound insulation - a solid 5.

One note regarding the bicycle - I am for safe riding, so I have to ride with one earphone, but the second one simply cannot be attached to the ear due to the rigid design.

The fourth point is the microphone. Since it is structurally located on the wire and is located below the ear near the neck, the quality of your interlocutor’s hearing greatly depends on the situation around you. Indoors it’s ok, on the street it’s tolerable, in a car it’s not bad. But you shouldn’t even try on a bicycle, the wind will simply drown out everything. So, a solid 4.

Well, the last, fifth, but not least important thing is the quality of the connection. And here nuances arose that I did not expect. I found out empirically that the bluetooth module itself is located in the right earphone. If the smartphone is in the front pocket of your trousers or jeans and plays music, then there is no problem. But if you turn your head to the right, that is, make it as difficult as possible for the signal to pass through the body to the earphone, then the sound begins to disappear and become interrupted. This does not happen when you turn your head to the left. Otherwise, there are no complaints about the connection. Score 4

Do you like to listen to musical compositions with maximum comfort and high-quality sound while playing sports? Then just for you we have prepared a review of one of the best – Xiaomi Bluetooth Mini. Its distinguishing feature is the ability wireless connection, thanks to which you will not experience the inconvenience of wires.

Thoughtful equipment

The kit consists of several elements: the gadget itself, waterproof case, as well as three pairs of interchangeable ear pads, which differ in size.

To replenish the charge, use a USB/microUSB cable, which is also included in the kit.

Cutting-edge design

The manufacturer offers Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Headset Mini in two shades – black and snow-white. The slightly elongated capsules have a decorative metal insert on the front surface. The case itself is made of ABS plastic, which does not collect fingerprints and other contaminants. The model is distinguished by its compactness, because its weight is only 14 grams!

The capsules are connected to each other using a durable rubberized wire on which the remote control is located. It has a control button that allows you to receive a call, play music, and pause it. There is also a microphone nearby.

In the right capsule you will find a button responsible for decreasing/increasing the volume. Inside it is located accumulator battery along with the speaker system. There is also a microUSB port to recharge the device.

Ergonomic performance is excellent

A special feature of wearing Xiaomi Sport Bluetooth Earphone Mini is that they are attached to the auricle using a special mount. It meets modern ergonomic requirements, so it is securely fixed to the ear and eliminates the possibility of capsules falling, even during active sports.

I would also like to note that you can use Xiaomi headphones even in the rain, since their housing is completely sealed and certified to the IPX4 standard.

Another advantage of the modification is its ability to change the length of the cable to ensure comfortable wearing around the neck.

The manufacturer also took into account the fact that owners of Xiaomi Mi Sport Bluetooth Mini wireless headphones may have different auricle shapes. That is why the kit comes with three pairs of replaceable ear pads and the owner can choose the option that best suits him in size and shape.

Studying sound quality

The Bluetooth headset from Xiaomi boasts pretty good sound, in which mid frequencies and bass are clearly visible. The only drawback will be not always high-quality playback high frequencies, which sometimes cannot be supported even with the help of an equalizer.

Inside speaker system hides a solid filling, represented by a thin innovative membrane and a copper winding made from enameled wire. The speaker power is 5 W, and its sensitivity is an impressive 101 dB. Also, CVC active noise reduction technology is implemented, thanks to which you will hear music clearly even in a noisy place.

Wireless control

In addition to mechanical control using the built-in remote control, the model provides the ability to transmit commands via Bluetooth 4.1. The Qualcomm CSR8645 chip is responsible for wireless control, which provides communication at a distance of up to 10 meters. When connected to a smartphone, the user can select the desired tracks, rewind them, pause them, etc. The good news is that there is no need to configure the gadget to synchronize with the phone, since it connects automatically.

Impressive battery life

In order for the device to work autonomously, Xiaomi brand engineers equipped it with a compact and at the same time quite capacious 80 mAh battery. To replenish its charge, you will have to wait about 2 hours (using a USB/microUSB cable), but then the device will function at high volume for 5 hours, and at low volume for about 7 hours.

Characteristics table

Who are the Xiaomi Mi Sport Bluetooth Mini headphones suitable for?

This is a great option for those who value their own mobility and want to be free from many wires. You won’t need to connect them to your smartphone via a cable; it’s enough to occasionally recharge the gadget, because it synchronizes with your phone via Bluetooth.

With active use, its charge will last for at least 5 hours, during which you can enjoy your favorite music regardless of weather conditions, because the product body is waterproof.

Again, at the risk of sounding overly enthusiastic, I really like the new Xiaomi products. The Mi Sports in-ear headset is no exception.

The design consists of two capsules connected by a rubberized wire. Excess is removed using a holder with a company logo. The memory effect is present, but the wire does not dull in the cold, does not crack, and behaves very well for a budget device.

On the right side of the wire there is a one-button remote control with a microphone. With it, you can accept or reject a call, turn on the audio player or pause the music.

The capsules are decorated with a metal insert in the style of the first. One of them even hides the same LED, which serves as an indicator that the headset is connected to the device.

Each of the capsules is slightly heavier than the first Mi Band, but significantly larger in size. On the side of the ear there are additional growths - this is the audio system. The capsules themselves contain electronics and a battery.

The right capsule is functional. On one side there are volume buttons, on the other there is a microUSB port closed with a rubber plug.

Ease of use

The headset is designed to be worn behind the ear. The ear hook is rigid, made of unbending plastic. The remote acoustic chamber provides additional contact with the ear. Otherwise, the headset would hang entirely on the ear pad.

Although such Xiaomi variant also foreseen. The Mi Sports ear pads are longer than the standard ones used for the Hybrid or Piston.

The entire design ensures comfortable wearing for any ear size. Suitable for both men and women: the set includes three sizes of ear pads.

The length and design of the earhook allows you to wear the earphone not completely inserted into the ear canal, which is convenient if you need to hear surrounding sounds.

The ear pads provide good sound insulation. Soft, durable. Unfortunately, due to its pleasant rough texture, it collects dirt and is difficult to clean.

Sound quality

Wireless headsets from even the most renowned manufacturers rarely provide sound quality comparable to their wired counterparts, no matter what they write in numerous reviews. Mi Sports is no exception. But it has a serious justification: it is an accessory that is maximally optimized for outdoor activities, sports and noisy spaces. The main task of the device is to provide convenience and background music.

First, the good stuff. Xiaomi Mi Sports has a very high volume level. Enough even on the subway or other public transport. Voice transmission in both directions is sufficient for any use scenario: both in transport and in the silence of the park.

Now about the shortcomings of the sound. The sound of the Xiaomi sports headset is bassy and quite bright. But the high frequencies are noticeably lacking, and the equalizer only partially helps. Of course, the sound cannot be called dark and dirty - it is clear and full. But the lack of aptX support takes its toll.

In comparison with its main competitor, the Meizu EP-51, the Xiaomi headset sounds more advantageous: there is not so much bass, the sound is clearer and clearer. But most importantly, the classic fit allows you to feel the music and includes the auricle itself in the playback process. The Meizu headset has a non-standard approach that prevents the ear canal from working and distances the sound from the listener.

Battery life

The manufacturer claims that the operating time of the Xioami Mi Sports headset is 7 hours. However, it does not indicate the operating mode. Testing showed the following numbers:

  • standby mode - 10 hours;
  • low volume (quiet room, apartment) - 7 hours;
  • average volume (office, gym without music) - 6 hours;
  • high volume (street, public transport) - 5 o'clock.

Telephone calls practically do not reduce work time.

Connectivity and Compatibility

Xiaomi Mi Sports works with any devices equipped with Bluetooth. The headset's own protocol complies with version 4.1, but backward compatibility allows it to be used for protocols of lower versions.

There are no hardware restrictions on the platform. Mi Sports can become a companion for devices based on both Android and iOS. Laptops and desktop computers on Windows are also no exception.

Results: a convenient accessory for every day

Testing has shown that Xiaomi's first wireless headset, called Mi Sports, can be considered a successful model. Among its advantages:

  • thoughtful design;
  • stylish appearance;
  • comfortable fit;
  • good working hours.

Since the device belongs to the lower price segment, there are still some disadvantages:

  • complete sound insulation;
  • large dimensions;
  • average sound quality;
  • lack of aptX support.

For $25 (with coupon XMWV), Xiaomi Mi Sports simply has no branded competitors. This is a great inexpensive device, more musical than the $28 Meizu EP-51 (with MeizuEPS coupon).

Includes 5 pairs of soft earbuds

Anyone can buy a Xiaomi Mi Sport Bluetooth Mini sports headset - thanks to a set of earbuds of different sizes, it will suit anyone.

Supplied complete with sealed box

A short review of a popular headset for sports and active people.
The review will compare two Sport headsets - Mini and the regular version with disassembly of the regular version (probably the only disassembly of these headphones).

Among the interesting things is a completely modern CSR8645 Bluetooth 4.1 chip, as well as honest moisture protection available.

Details and conclusions under the cut.

There have already been many reviews of the regular Xiaomi Mi Sport, but I couldn’t find the internals anywhere. At one time I bought it “blindly”, on a promotion, and it didn’t make much of a mistake. Branded BT headphones with decent sound in the twenty bucks range are a completely normal choice.
As time passed, the second version of these headphones was released - a sports mini-Bluetooth headset with earbuds. As in the first version, IPX4 water protection is declared, which is supposed to be useful for athletes and active people. Well, of course, this does not mean swimming in the pool or washing in the shower - rather, just protection from sweat and splashes. In principle this should be enough.

Appearance of the Mini headset

In respect of wireless communication- there is a fairly good CSR8645 chip with Bluetooth 4.1, but there is no APT-X support in the ears.

In terms of design, these crutches date back to the first Mi bands - a metal oval capsule. Or rather, painted to look like metal.
The design is a C grade, but there are ear hooks, and the headset turned out to be moderately comfortable. However, the Mini version inherited the design previous version, so don't expect big changes. Especially if you understand that you need it for an hour or two a day of active movement (starting from jogging in the morning/evening, ending with the daily run to work/school/college).

Characteristics:

JD's packaging is nice. Large package, branded, with a hologram.

There are headphones inside in a blister.

Moreover, they are packaged more than beautifully. "With my heart." Xiaomi clearly tried.

On the back are full technical characteristics and description, although in Chinese

You can check the originality of Xiaomi products by barcode at.

Really nicely done. The wire is routed underneath, it is not visible

The kit includes a case, quite high quality. Pleasant care for the end user.

The kit includes a fairly large number of attachments of different sizes, a charging cable

The headphones fit in the case without any problems; if you wish, you can also put a small BT player or something else in there.

The headphone cord is curled. The kit includes detailed instructions

Additional information - instructions

The instructions, although in Chinese, have very detailed pictograms

The remote control on the wire has a microphone and a clothespin.

The charging connector is hidden under a plug

There is a model and ID marking

The main buttons on the remote control are present. I would like to note that the surface of the remote control is covered with rubber - in theory it should protect it from moisture and dust.
There is a hole for a microphone.

There is a work indicator.

The headphones themselves have a simple design, round (oval) shape.

The connection does not cause any problems - tested on several smartphones.
We are looking for a Chinese typeface (you can rename it later). There is "mini" in the name. We connect and set up a profile.

A friend has the same, but regular version, Xiaomi Mi Sport.
I’ve been using it for quite a long time and successfully, I’ll give you a visual comparison of the versions.

The Mini has a smaller body and the electronics have been moved to the remote control.

The sizes of the headphone cases have become smaller - this is a big plus. Instead of a metallic overlay, a more pleasant and durable coating appeared, also with a metallic sheen.

The dimensions of the acoustic chambers have not changed. This is a plus for those who are used to the old ones.

The earhooks have become a little softer, the provot is simply laid inside the earhook, unlike the old version, where it is poured inside the plastic hook

Slightly larger.

Comparison of remote control sizes.
On new version The Xiaomi Mi Sport Mini remote control has become more than three times longer and thicker. And all because the board and battery migrated to the remote control. On the plus side, the remote control now has protection. There was no protection in the old version.

Here is a photo of the old version of Xiaomi Mi Sport - in one of the headphones there is a board and a charger input with buttons.

Word for word, ... around the table, I argued with a friend about water protection.
We carefully disassembled the old version of Xiaomi Mi Sport to check all this.
I will try to demonstrate everything clearly.

The headphone body is made of plastic with a metal-like decorative overlay.

Carefully pry it up, there are three latches.

In one ear there is a board with a CSR8645 Bluetooth 4.1 chip, in the other there is a battery.

The antenna is soldered by a separate module (ceramic). That's a plus.

In the other ear there is a battery of size 651022 (0.35Wh)

No hassles. The wires just go to the other ear through the remote control.

But this is the most interesting thing.
The channel with the wires to the emitter is tightly sealed with sealant. They really do have moisture protection. The emitter can be calmly filled with water - it will dry out and continue to “sing”.

As a result, I received a broken headset...
In general, I am pleased with the results of the disassembly - the headphones provide protection against moisture getting inside (sealed wire inputs, seals).
The design is not the most optimal, but it is time-tested and made with reserve.
The battery inside is size 651022 (0.35 Wh or 110 mAh), which is enough for several hours of operation (5 hours).
The remote control is not protected from water. This is a minus of the old version.

The board only has 1 button and a microphone. The Mini version has 3 buttons.

In general, the remote control was the weak point of the Xiaomi Mi Sport of the old version.

I don’t recommend immersing headphones in water, taking a shower or swimming in them - they won’t hold up. The weak point in the old version of the headphones is the remote control with buttons and the headphone housing. There is not enough sealant along the seam with snaps. The new version includes water protection on the buttons and a plug on the charging connector.
The headphones are protected only from water ingress from the emitter side.
The remote control has protection only on the buttons, but the microphone is open (hole). The remote control should not be wet 146%.

Well, some conclusions about use.
In terms of comfort, the headphones are made to a solid B level. The plus is that there are ear hooks and replaceable ear pads. If desired, you can add foam.
The sound quality is a very good headset. Also for a four. There is no obvious advantage over modern alternatives in the $30-$40 range, but in terms of sound it is a solid average. The sound is detailed (there are mid frequencies), there are highs and lows, the lows are not highlighted (as they say, there is no “dark sound”). Quite normal headphones for the money.
Compared to old version- the size of the headphone housing has pleasantly changed downwards.

If you care real protection from moisture - then this is a good option, just do as I did with the old version - after opening, apply a drop of sealant along the seam of the housing covers on the headphones and on the remote control. True, there remains a weak point - the microphone and connector.

If sound quality and lossless are more important to you, then it makes sense to choose another option (keep in mind that both headphones and the sound source - a player or smartphone - must also reproduce lossless, otherwise there is no point). The same sports
for $26 (or $35) may be more interesting in sound.
If you need a simple sports option, then the subject is on sale. Good too. Obviously better than the outright $15 noname.

P.S. The headphones are more interesting in white...
