  1. . We will need the following elements to update manually: The Apple gadget itself (iPad, iPod or iPhone smartphone
  2. ) and a USB cable for it;
  3. Pre-downloaded iOS 7 (very easy to find);
  4. Computer with iTunes;

Any working internet. So, you have downloaded to your iTunes computers 11.1 (or higher). We warn you that iTunes will not recognize your tablet or phone if you connect it with a USB cable to your computer. We would like to immediately recommend that you charge your smartphone to at least 50%. Of course, 30% is enough, but installing a new operating system may take longer than you expect - the Internet may drop or even shut down. Therefore, it is worth taking care of charging the battery in advance. Also, make sure that the cord does not dangle under your arm - let it lie on the table.

There are two ways to install iOS 7. The first way is the simplest - with Wi-Fi assistance. So, we connect our iPad or iPhone to a fast Wi-Fi network (preferably). If the battery charge is below 60%, then the gadget needs to be connected to the network. Now go to the settings menu, and then go to the “General” tab, and finally, “Update” software" You will see the “upgrade operating system to iOS 7” tab. We need to agree and wait for the software to start downloading, and then the installation to start new version operating system. During the update, you can safely use the gadget, the main thing is not to enter Airplane mode and not disconnect from the Wi-Fi network.

Second way

The second method will be the “wired path”. It is prepared specifically for those people whose devices do not have access to the Wi-Fi network. Here we will need to connect to a PC and iTunes 11.1. Connect your device via USB cable and launch iTunes. Now we need to find our device in the list and select the “Update” button. Now you need to wait for the new iOS to first download and then install it. Installation is not a tricky and quick task, but downloading can take a long time, it all depends on the speed of your Internet. Another tip: if you decide to install new system on a laptop, then make sure that it does not go into sleep mode. Otherwise, everything may break down and all data on the iPhone or iPad will be lost.

There is a third way. It is suitable for those users who are not afraid of losing data and want to install the most “transparent” operating system without any traces of previous iOS. Don't forget that when you use it, you will lose all the information stored on your device. Connect it to your PC and find the "Restore" button. Constantly agree and respond positively to all questions that the system suggests. We are waiting for the process to complete.

Regardless of the method you chose to install the seventh version, after 10-30 minutes you will see the welcome screen of the seventh iOS on the screen of your device and go through the first setup. As you can see, installing a new version is not that difficult.

You can update to the new version of Apple iOS 7 software in two main ways: over the air (OTA) or using iTunes. The first thing you need to do is back up your device to iCloud or Apple's media combiner. A device is backed up to iCloud automatically if it is connected to the computer via a cable, locked, has access to a Wi-Fi wireless network, and iTunes is running on the PC.

Creation backup copy in iTunes occurs automatically when the device is synchronized with the PC. You can also start the process of creating a copy in iTunes by clicking Create a copy now in the tab Review your his mobile device.

To update to the latest official version iOS 7 you will also need to download the latest version of iTunes for your PC. This can be done on the official Apple website, or using the program itself: during startup, iTunes will automatically check for updates and, if any, offer to download and install the current version of the program on your PC.

1. Update from iOS 6.X to iOS 7 over the air (OTA).

Mobile software Apple devices can be updated to the latest version via a wireless Wi-Fi network (Over The Air). To do this, you need a device connected to the Internet via wireless network, go to Settings, select item Basic and press Software Update. After a few seconds, the device will offer to download and install the current version of iOS 7. All you have to do is wait until new firmware will be downloaded and installed automatically on the device.

2. update from iOS 6.X to iOS 7 using iTunes.

iTunes automatically checks for updates for your mobile device when you connect it to your PC via cable. If there is one, then in the tab Review your gadget, a corresponding message will appear asking you to update the Apple software. Just press a button Update, after which iTunes will automatically download and install the latest current version of iOS 7 on your device. The entire update process will take about 10 minutes.

3. Upgrade from iOS 7 GM to iOS 7.

If the pre-release version of iOS 7 Gold Master is installed on the device, updating to iOS 7 over the air (OTA) will not be available. The only one possible way will be updated using iTunes. First of all, you need to download the iOS 7 firmware for your device. After this, you need to open the iTunes program with the device connected to the computer using a cable. If you have Mac OS, you need to hold down the button Alto on your PC keyboard and select Update in iTunes. If you have Windows OS, hold down Shift on the PC keyboard and Update in the Apple medical combine. After this, you need to specify the path to the previously downloaded iOS 7. The further process of installing the firmware on your device will take place automatically and will take about 10 minutes.

Many owners of a first-generation Apple tablet are interested in what version of the operating system they can update it to. It should be understood that this device is already 6 years old and initially it worked on iOS 3.2. However, officially you can install iOS 4 and even 5 on iPad 1. But starting from the 6th version, things are somewhat more complicated, since iPad processor 1 no longer matches her system requirements. Nevertheless, users want to use the “goodies” of newer OSes on their well-deserved device and often ask how to update iPad 1 to iOS 7, not to mention the “six”.

What's wrong Apple developers added to iOS 7, what does everyone want so badly? First of all, this is a fundamentally new minimalistic design, and a couple of hundred functions. Among the latter, especially notable are the improved multitasking and the appearance of a control center, which opens with a swipe from the bottom up and allows you to turn on/off airplane mode, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, adjust the volume, adjust the brightness and perform many other actions.

Unfortunately, you cannot install the full-fledged version 7 of iOS on iPad 1, but there is a hacker workaround to get its design and functional bells and whistles. Don't worry: you can start using almost all of them too.

Firmware WhiteD00r 7

In addition to the “native” operating system updates that Apple regularly delivers for its devices, there are custom iOS 7 firmware for iPad 1. Such updates are developed by enthusiastic hackers and are usually released later than the next official version.

The developers take as a basis the standard version of the OS for an outdated gadget and supplement it with everything possible from the design and functionality of the newer iOS, while maintaining the stability of the device. In particular, for the iPad 1, they took the penultimate original firmware iOS 4, “dressed up” it in the manner of the “seven” and called it WhiteD00r 7. But after installing the custom firmware, your iPad will actually remain version 4 of iOS.

WhiteD00r 7 firmware is very similar to the original iOS 7 and includes almost all of its innovations: sound updates, wallpapers, icon design, multitasking, control center, Siri assistant, push notifications and many others. At the same time, despite such a large-scale additional functionality, the performance of the device does not suffer at all.

Preparing iPad 1

First, make sure that a clean version 4 of the Apple system is installed on your iPad. If you have jailbroken firmware, then first flash your device to standard iOS 4 using the instructions. If you have doubts about the originality of your OS or difficulties with updating, it is better not to experiment with custom firmware.

If there are no problems, then in the next step of preparing iPad 1 for iOS 7 firmware, create a backup using iCloud.

Then find the Redsn0w utility on the Internet and install it on your personal computer. Also download the archive of the WhiteD00r 7 firmware itself and extract the files from it. And finally, check if you have iTunes, and if not, install latest version programs.

Firmware installation

Now that you have prepared everything you need, proceed with the installation:

  • Connect your tablet to your computer.
  • Then launch iTunes or wait for the program to launch on its own.
  • Wait for iTunes to detect your device as shown in the screenshot below.
  • Click on the device icon on the left top corner and make sure once again that the iPad is running the original iOS 4.
  • In the current window, click on the “Restore iPad” button, but before that, hold down the “Shift” key if you are a Windows OS user, or “Alt” if you are a Mac OS (OS X) user.
  • In the Explorer window that opens, specify the path to the file with the .ipsw extension, which you saved earlier in the folder with the WhiteD00r 7 firmware, and click “Open”.
  • Wait approximately 15 minutes for the recovery process to complete.

After successful installation of the firmware, the device will reboot and you will see a nice iOS 7 design on its screen.

As it turns out, flashing an iPad 1 is not that difficult, but now you can safely start enjoying all the benefits of a custom system, while performing the actions you are familiar with. Continue to enjoy great sound, watch movies and read books on your usual gadget in the new style of iOS 7.

How to convert IPAD 1 IOS (5.1.1) to IOS 7.1.1 JB:Video

Unfortunately, the seventh version of the iOS operating system never reached iPad tablet 1st generation. Why did it happen? It is difficult to answer; there are only a few assumptions. First, Apple decided that there was no point in adapting iOS 7 for the 1st generation iPad due to the fact that it was not financially profitable. And that's true. These devices are no longer produced, so the expectation is that iPad owners will simply purchase new tablet from Apple a generation higher, on which it will be possible to install iOS 7. There is a second assumption. Perhaps the hardware of the first iPad is too weak for the seventh version of the operating system. This is why Apple refused to adapt iOS 7 to the iPad 1. Agree, the hardware of the first generation Apple tablet is really not able to “handle” the latest toys and applications.

Perhaps because of this, he would not be able to handle the seventh version, because it requires a lot of resources for fast and smooth operation. What do we know about iOS 7? This firmware marked the first major design revolution. The developers decided to try to make it more practical and minimalistic. And they did it, and did it well. Therefore, now users see a simpler design on the displays of their gadgets. But simplicity did not stop us from adding new effects that significantly improved the experience of using the device.

What's in sevens?

Now iOS 7 users can enjoy the beauty of iridescent menus, a variety of icons, nice animated wallpapers, and a parallax effect that moves the menu when the angle of the tablet or smartphone changes. Another important update that appeared in iOS 7 is the Control Panel. The so-called multitasking, which is known experienced users Apple since iOS 5. But only in the seventh firmware did multitasking become full-fledged. Now an iPhone or iPad user can use a light swipe to call up a panel in which you can quickly perform the necessary operations. For example, lower or increase the brightness, monitor software updates, enable Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and other services.

The advent of multitasking has made life much easier for Apple users. What else appeared in the “seven”, which is why it was not transferred to the 1st generation iPad? Probably this is the ability to create “multi-tiered application shortcuts” on the home screen in iOS 7. iOS 7 users can place a shortcut of two applications on the home screen and drag one of them onto the other. After this action, a folder with applications will be automatically created. This can be done an unlimited number of times. Thus, applications can be sorted by need, games by genre, etc.

The next addition to OS 7, which became a revolutionary innovation, was the introduction of AirDrop. This is a service that allows you to share content (photos, audio recordings, contacts, links, maps, etc.). This revolutionary addition allowed users to freely share data with friends, colleagues, and family.

Output for owners of outdated devices

You may ask why we are writing all this, because users of the 1st generation iPad do not have all these joys. Yes, you can’t install a full version of iOS 7 on iPad 1, but you can add some features and design from the seven. How to do it? Thanks to the work of a team of hackers, so-called “custom firmware” was born. Customization literally translates as “dressing up.” And this hits the mark. The standard firmware for an old gadget is taken, for example, iPad 1, the firmware for it is OS 4. With the help of hackers, the design from the “seven” is added to iOS 4, as well as functions that can be added without spoiling the functionality of the gadget. These firmwares are called WhiteD00r.

Valiant programmers help owners of old gadgets feel all the benefits of the new version of iOS on their device. Thus, by installing WhiteD00r on your iPad 1, you will see your own version of the OS on your device, but dressed up as iOS 7. The main thing is that the matter does not end with changing the design. For example, thanks to the work of these hackers, multitasking, which we described above, was added to the custom “seven”. That is, the user will be able not only to enjoy the pleasant design of the seventh OS, but also take advantage of its innovations.

Now I'm left main question: how to install this same Wh1ted00r 7 on your old but reliable 1st generation iPad. There are four requirements for this:

  • Availability of a clean version of the standard firmware on iPad 1 (if you currently have a clean OS 4, then everything is fine, if with a jail, you need to reflash and install a clean version);
  • Downloaded custom firmware WhiteD00r 7 and iTunes on a personal computer – preferably version 10.2;
  • The Redsn0w program is from the same team of hackers, which is used to install their version of the system.
Installation process

Let's say that you downloaded the WhiteD00r 7 firmware for iPad 1, you have the Redsn0w program and iTunes 10+ installed. Now you can start installation. Go to iTunes. Now connect your device to your personal computer. Make sure once again that the tablet has a standard system. We completely forgot to tell you that you need to create a copy in iCloud, which will contain all the data from your gadget (photos, videos, settings, recordings, etc.). Using Apple's standard iCloud service, you can quickly and easily create such a copy.

When the gadget is connected to a personal computer, you can begin. Launch iTunes 10+ (the main thing is that the version is no higher than 11 - the recovery process is excluded there). Wait for the program to notify you that iPad 1 has been detected. Now you can click on the “Restore” button: if you have personal computer on Windows, then while holding down “Shift” you need to click on the “Restore” button, if on Mac, then while holding down “Alt”. The program will ask you to select the firmware from which to restore your system. Attention, we need to specify the path to whited00r 7 in order to get a custom version of seven on your iPad. Now wait for the process to finish. You can safely go drink tea or sing pies; the process usually lasts from 15 minutes to half an hour. When it's finished, your tablet should reboot. After that, you will see a nice seven design on the working display. If everything is so, you have successfully installed iOS 7 clothes on iPad 1.

This is an excellent option for those who are completely satisfied with their tablet, but would still like to see iOS 7 on it. For example, if you don’t chase powerful games or open 30 tabs in the standard Safari browser, then this option for a custom system is good will do. You can continue to surf the Internet, read books, listen to music, watch movies, only with a more pleasant system design.
